Public Information Request

  1. All records kept by CFPUA are public unless they are exempt from disclosure under North Carolina Public Records laws, which include but are not limited to NC General Statutes chapters 132 and 160A-168. CFPUA’s public records administrator will respond to all records requests in a timely and transparent manner. If a response takes longer than anticipated, the public records administrator will contact you to provide an update on your request. Please take into account the volume of records requested.

Customer account information, including records of delinquencies and service disconnections, is not public information under North Carolina Public Records laws.

  2. Please note:
The law does not state a specific response time. According to NCGS, 132-6 (a), “Every custodian of public records shall permit any record in the custodian’s custody to be inspected and examined at reasonable times and under reasonable supervision by any person, and shall, as promptly as possible, furnish copies thereof upon payment of any fees as may be prescribed by law.” According to NCGS 132-6.2 (e), “Nothing in this section shall be construed to require a public agency to respond to a request for a copy of a public record by creating or compiling a record that does not exist.”
  3. To better serve you and provide the records you need, please be specific when describing your request.
