The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) utilizes our mandatory connection ordinance to ensure the expansion of and connection to water and wastewater services. For example, CFPUA has instituted a successful mandatory connection program in Middle Sound that will work towards eliminating septic systems and finally repaving the road systems throughout this community. The Middle Sound Project was completed in August, 2011. A second mandatory connection program has been started in the Masonboro area. This program will ensure the expansion of water and wastewater services to areas annexed into the City of Wilmington in 1995 and 1998. These projects will provide direct benefits to the environment and water quality, and ensure high quality water and wastewater services as provided by CFPUA.
