Water Quality
Each year, the Cape Fear Public Utility Authority prepares a Drinking Water Quality Report (Consumer Confidence Report) for its customers as mandated by Federal law. This report provides important details about the various substances we test for as well as the quality of the drinking water we provide to our community.

Wastewater Treatment
Each year, CFPUA continues to evaluate the sewer system and to identify needs and methods of repair based on the preservation of public health, protection of the environment and controlling costs to our customers.  The guiding principles of the Authority are Stewardship, Service, and Sustainability. These principles are at the core of each decision made within the Authority and is guiding how we move into the future.

CFPUA on CBS Byline Wilmington
The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has appeared three times on CBS Byline Wilmington with Donn Ansell; the first interview with Chief Executive Officer Matt Jordan,  the second with Engineering Project Manager Jim Flechtner and then Chief Financial Officer Brent McAbee, and our most recent with Board Chairman Gene Renzaglia and Treasurer Burrows Smith discussing our bond coverage, the rate increases of 2010, and our capital projects. CFPUA Receives Gold Peak Performance Award
The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has been selected to receive a Gold and two Silver Peak Performance Awards presented by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) in recognition of public wastewater treatment facilities for their outstanding compliance records in the 2008 calendar year. M’Kean Maffit (Southside) Wastewater Treatment Plant was awarded a Gold Peak Performance award in recognition of 100% NPDES permit compliance during the calendar year 2008; and Silver awards for both the James A. Loughlin (Northside) and Walnut Hills Wastewater Treatment Plants for less than 5 violations for 2008.
