The Environmental Safety and Health Laboratory is located at the Sweeney Water Treatment Plant.

A variety of samples from Cape Fear Public Utilities Authority treatment plants and distribution systems are analyzed by the laboratory in order to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.

Our laboratory is staffed with highly qualified individuals possessing varying degrees of education and experience. All employees complete a comprehensive training program and are provided with opportunities for personal and career development during their tenure.

Individuals are encouraged to seek certification in disciplines such as wastewater analysis, drinking water chemistry, and bacteriology.
